Community Classes

Providing cookery classes for our local community is at the heart of why Central Street Cookery School was opened in 2012. We wanted a fully-equipped, modern kitchen area where we could offer excellent facilities for private hire, that would then fund our mission to get the local community – from toddlers to the elderly – learning about healthy home cooking on a budget and avoiding food waste.

Thanks to income from hiring out the School we run community classes for local residents, aiming to tackle social isolation through inclusive classes, and improve the health and well-being of our community.

In recent months we have run a course to help unemployed locals find work in catering, and supported people with health conditions like diabetes. Every week we teach local families and over 55s how to create healthy, home cooked meals with everyday, fresh ingredients that would otherwise go to waste. They can then enjoy what they’ve cooked together.
